Tungsten Torch

The Tungsten Torch was designed by the Toba at Advanced Exploration Technology Group. The engineers at AETG normally design and build mining craft that are used by the Toba to transport ores and rare chemicals from various moons in the Aluza system back to Quantum Prime, and that explains the design of the Tungsten Torch: like the other craft that the AETG designs, it has its rockets extended from the body, and capable of rotating. This design allows AETG mining ships to lift slowly and carefully out of open pit tungsten mines on Caldera Chaos or the deep canyons on Exosol, and then rotate its engine housings for forward flight, carrying the precious cargoes horizontally as the ship gains speed and finally accelerates enough to climb out of the atmosphere and into orbit.

The same technology, when applied to a Rocket Dog rocket, gives dogs lucky enough to sport a Tungsten Torch the best of both worlds: good acceleration and extreme maneuverability.
