Electric Lightstorm

The Electric Lightstorm is an oddball contender, and when first submitted to Kainsha and Gogali, the two Toba tasked with pulling together rocket designs, they thought it was a joke.

It’s not that it looked funny (it did look funny - but so did all the other entrants!), it was the name on the submission form. Instead of a reasonable name like Atomo-Dyne (a well-known group designing nuclear power plants and spaceship drives for centuries), or Toba Material Handling Phyle (a group that built force field generators), or RaceTech or Overdrive Technology (two firms involved in Toba aircar racing), the claimed inventor of the ELECTRIC LIGHTSTORM was Quantum Prime Sewer and Electric, an unexciting and mostly ignored utility provider in most of the cities of Quantum Prime.

The entry paperwork was put aside and ignored - until the engineers at Quantum Prime Sewer and Electric followed up and asked about their submission. At that point the shocked Kainsha and Gogali pulled the design out and looked at it - and were shocked at what they saw. The Electric Lightstorm wasn’t just plausible - it was groundbreaking. Using a combination of Tesla coils, super compact battery banks, and heretofore unknown electrical inventions, it was clear that this design was a product of several heretofore unrecognized geniuses, bored with the low demands that their day-to-day jobs put on them, had labored in secret to deliver something entirely new.
