Wings of Hermes
Often the problem in a Rocket Dogs race is not speed, per se - it’s maneuverability. A rocket can propel a Rocket Dog at breakneck speeds over a stone bridge spanning a river of lava on Caldera Chaos, or through the tunnels of Absolute Abyss, but if the rocket pushes the dog faster than he can detect - and, more importantly – negotiate obstacles, then it’s not a tool for winning races, it’s a tool for spraining ankles, bruising haunches, and breaking tail bones.
Rocket Dogs, though, are a competitive lot, and if left to their own devices, they’d choose MORE MORE MORE SPEED every single time … so the designers of the Rocket Dogs races actually had to add circuits to the rockets to detect obstacles and throttle back to speeds where the dog-in-the-loop was capable of identifying and dealing with obstructions.
…but there’s a way to hack that system. If a Rocket Dog was equipped with footwear with ailerons and flaps - giving the dog the ability to maneuver harder and faster - and if that footwear was linked to the self-regulation circuits of the rockets, then it’s possible to maneuver harder and thus race faster. …and that’s exactly what the Wings of Hermes deliver: the ability to maneuver better, and thus unlock higher speeds and accelerations while amped up.
