Tidal Force

Giant behemoths swim in the oceans of Novatropia, slurping small plankton-like creatures from the water, signing songs to each other across hundreds of miles of ocean, and occasionally jumping out of the waves for, apparently, the sheer joy of it.

Like earth whales, the behemoths of Novatropia emit strange substances that are collected and used. Earth whales emit ambergris, a secretion from the bile duct that is used to encase sharp or hard items that have been consumed, like the beaks of giant squids. The behemoths of Novatropia secrete a waxy material over their eardrums which protect their sensitive organs from the various dangers found in the oceans. Over time, this waxy coating is shed and refreshed, and Toba fisherman on Novatropia have learned to collect the floating sheets that they find. The waxy sheets earn quite a high price from traders, because this is the key ingredient in Tidal Force, a rocket fuel that can not only propel a Rocket Dog to victory but, for a brief moment, give them some of the focus, intelligence, and calm of the ancient and wise behemoths that swim slowly through the oceans of Novatropia.
