Stardog Helmet

When the Toba rescued the dogs from Earth and then conceived of the idea of Rocket Dog races, they realized that several large teams of Toba would be required to design and build the racecourses on the various moons within the system, but a smaller, more elite team would be required to design and build the space suits, helmets, and other personal equipment for the dogs. The various Toba on the equipment design team soon got into a friendly rivalry, with different sub-groups each seeking to create better options for the Earth dogs that they had befriended.

One designer, Daldo, was put in charge of the Stardog Helmet. Sneaking a look at the other helmet designs (the Aero Helmet and the Crash Helmet) he decided to outdo them both. Working long hours and generating dozens of samples until he had designed one that met both his own standards and got the approving barks from the dogs he was working with; he finally unveiled his masterpiece.

Inside, the helmet is a marvel of comfort. Small, ducted air vents keep the inside of the face shield fog free, even when a dog is panting during strenuous activity. A water tube mounted to the left side provides on-demand refreshment, while speakers mounted near each ear provide computer-mediated auditory clues about approaching hazards.
